I am from the commodere 64 generation, and I did enjoy them at the time. I am not obsessed with good graphics, but PC games today should at least have graphics up to par with PS3 games. If they want us to buy games, then they have to start to make quality games. And at least 50% of those could have been played on commodere 64. At least 70% of the games in the steam linux section is games that could have been played on PSone. I have no problem supporting devs by buying their games, but come on. I haven't seen any other games that interests me. Linux gaming future is getting better by the month! I'm looking forward to Metro Last Light but will likely have to buy a Titan to play it once the Titan prices fall in the next month or so now that AMD's R9-290x cards are out.Īlso looking forward to whatever Crytek is releasing for linux now that they have opengl-linux developers porting the Cryengine. I'm also a sucker for Adventure gaming as it reminds me of the games back in the 90's so Raven is an instant favourite for me in the list! It is well written and very cinematic! On the highest level, it looks photo-finish phenomenal! Especially when you zoom in on the action or track units, and watch devastation unleashed! Actually I would rate it hands down as the best game I've got on Linux! You need a powerful graphics card to get the eye-candy settings on the highest level. Of the lot, the Wargames are phenomenally good! Awesome strategy RTS! I rank it up there with the Total Wars. Have the following on Steam-Linux (ubuntu 12.04): Be positive, be encouraging, and let the games begin. This is not a place to give a full review of a particular game and rake the developer over the coals for all the things they did wrong, but if you want to give props for some things done particularly well, go for it. If you are one of the kind-hearted souls that actually donates money to developers of "free" games, you are also encouraged to post and be counted among those doing your part too. So if you bought (meaning: paid cold hard cash for) a Linux game recently, be counted as one doing their part by posting here and letting us know which title you bought. So perhaps its high-time we do something about it by encouraging people to put their money where their mouth is and buy a game, feed a programmer, and encourage others to start coding games for Linux. In my time surfing these forums I've seen countless new threads created either complaining or commenting on the sparseness of quality gaming options in Ubuntu. I'm not sure what's involved in making a thread sticky, but if ever one needed to be stuck, this is it.
